TCalc Scientific Calculator for iPhone and iPodTouch
Contact: T.Breitenstein@gmx.de
TCalc is a calculator with a huge number of functions. You can perform date, time and degree operations, calculations with complex numbers and prime number arithmetics.
Statistical functions, unit conversions and physical constants are also included.
Getting help
tapping on the two white points on top opens the help screen.
Known issues
are (hopefully) going to be fixed within the next version (1.2) [probable release date 1/11/2008]. See update information...
- problems with degree, hours or date input might appear after deleting values with
C
- maximum and minimum value might not work correctly if a data point is subtracted
- Phase is in rad and not converted to DEG
- Determination of prime numbers is limited to 10000000 (later versions will include a probabilistic prime number test for bigger values)
- Random numbers might turn out bad results, if a negative number is set in M
Examples
conversion of degrees and time
12°22'30" are
=
Result: 12.375
14:30:32 (i.e. 14 hours 30 minutes and 32 seconds) are (type in with inv
:
Result:14.50888888 hours
Calculation with Complex numbers
Squareroot of -1:

Date calculation
how many days between 15.6.1980 and 23.7.2008:
23.7.2008

Prime numbers
Is 124561 prime?
124561
isPrime
Result: yes
what are the prime factors of 16783?
16783
P.fac
Result: 13
P.fac
Result: 1291
P.fac
Result: -1
e.g. 16783 = 13 * 1291
what is the next prime to 56299?
56299
nxPrime
Result: 56311
Random numbers
To get random numbers between 0 and 1 just type "ran"
If you need integer random numbers between 1 and 6 (for a dice) just load the Memory "M+" with 6 and then "ran" will produce the appropriate numbers.
Statistical data
What is the average and the std deviation of this data set: 2,5,6.7,8,2.1
Just add all data with the Data+
key
then get the average with
" Result: 4.76
and the std deviation with inv
s k
Result: 2.693139
if you are interested in the geometric an harmonic means: geom

Unit conversions
How many gallons are 12.3 liters?
12.3 inv
